Pricing

What I charge, in plain numbers.

Most advisors make you call to find out what they cost. Here's mine, what moves the price, and what isn't included.

Fixed-fee first steps

Every engagement starts with a fixed fee, a fixed scope and a written answer. "From" means the price for a typical $1M to $15M business with reasonably clean books; more locations, entities or messy records cost more, and I'll quote it before you commit.

Owner's Boardfrom $3,000 / monthQuarterly board meeting, monthly KPI review, valuation updated every quarter, help with hiring, pay plans, pricing and cash.Quarter to quarter. Stop if it isn't worth it.
First 100 Days (after you buy)from $2,500 / monthOperator support after closing: cash, people, pricing and systems, for three to six months.Month to month after the first 90 days.

Sell-side representation

Once my Florida broker license is issued, sell-side representation will be a modest retainer plus a success fee paid at closing. I'll quote the exact rate in writing after the assessment, because it depends on deal size and complexity. Three things I commit to in every agreement:

  • Fees on a seller note are paid as you collect it, not all at closing.
  • Your assessment fee is credited against the retainer.
  • Buyers you already know can be carved out or charged at a reduced rate, in writing.

For context, published benchmarks put broker success fees at roughly 8% to 15% on smaller deals, with declining tiers on larger ones. See business broker fees in Florida.

Worked examples

  • You want to know if you should sell. Sale-Readiness Assessment from $5,000. If the answer is "build first," you leave with the fix list. If you list later, the $5,000 comes off the retainer.
  • You found a business to buy. Deal Review from $3,000 before you sign the LOI. If I find a problem that saves you even 1% on a $2M deal, the review has paid for itself several times over.
  • You're selling in two to five years. Value Baseline from $4,000, credited to the first quarter of the Owner's Board if you continue.

What isn't included

Other professionals bill you directly: your attorney, your CPA, a credentialed appraiser if a lender or estate needs one, and a Quality of Earnings firm if your deal calls for one. I'll coordinate them and tell you what they should cost. My cost to sell and cost to buy guides list typical ranges.

When I'm not worth it

If your business is very small, your deal is simple, or you need a licensed broker today, I may not be the right spend. I wrote a whole page on when not to hire me.
